Tips for searching

Tips for formulating queries: You may search using a word (e.g., "misconduct") or combination of words. You may also search by using a category number from the UI Decision Digest system (e.g., "MC 660", the digest category number for "misconduct - negligence"), since each decision in this collection includes one or more digest category numbers in its title. [View list of UI Digest categories]

Adjacent words or terms are treated as a phrase. The Boolean connectors AND, OR, AND NOT, and NEAR may be used to connect words, terms or phrases. An asterisk may be used as a "wild card" for any word ending (i.e., " misc* " will find "misconduct", "mischief", etc.). It is also possible to search for decisions by date or name.

Please note, that this is not a collection of all of unemployment insurance decisions, but only of a limited number which have been archived based on a staff assessment that they might be useful as research tools. Neither the inclusion nor the omission of any particular decision should be taken as an indication of the department's views on the general significance of the decision.

Please note also, that these decisions have been converted to HTML, and for that reason they should not be considered exact reproductions of the originals. These versions of the decisions are provided here as an aid to research only.

Finally, unless the note in the caption of the decision indicates otherwise, these decisions have not been appealed.

Searching for Decisions by Date or Name:

The HTML Document Title of each Decision contains the date of the decision as well as the name of one party (usually the employee, except in tax cases, in which case the employer's name is used).  Because of this, you can easily search for decisions by date and name, by limiting your search to the contents of the Document Title.  To do this, use the term:

@DocTitle

at the beginning of your search.  For example, to search for all decisions issued in January, 1998, use:

@DocTitle January AND 1998

Or, to search for all decisions involving an employe named Jones, use:

@DocTitle Jones
